What a difference a day makes. With a considerable caddis hatch on Monday many of us thought yesterday could be the first big day of the hatch. Sure the weather man called for 25 mph winds, we just hoped he was wrong. He was, though not in our favor. Winds were more like 35 mph with gusts to 50. Regardless we stuck it out and landed a few fish on beads. Small black Copper Johns and King Prince’s were the ticket, though the Serbian Kid did manage to hook one fish on a dry.
With the weather man calling for snow, rain and wind for the next few days the caddis are on hold again. Once this system moves east and the sun pops out the bugs shouldn’t be far behind. For now it’s back to streamers, nymphs and hopefully more baetis. For daily updates call us at 222-9393.
