It seems hard to believe right now, with the Yellowstone River roaring and muddy, but the hydrologists at NOAA forecast that the level will peak tomorrow and then come down rapidly. Runoff is here for real on the Yellowstone River. It looks like there’s no stopping her now. The good news? Salmonflies were out in force were out in full force yesterday on the Bird Float (Grey Owl to Mallard’s Rest). Water clarity isn’t great, but there should still be enough visibility for the fish to see the big bugs. The river hasn’t come up much, even with the heat of the last couple of days. [...]
