It seems hard to believe right now, with the Yellowstone River roaring and muddy, but the hydrologists at NOAA forecast that the level will peak tomorrow and then come down rapidly. Salmonflies were out in force were out in full force yesterday on the Bird Float (Grey Owl to Mallard’s Rest). Water clarity isn’t great, but there should still be enough visibility for the fish to see the big bugs. The river hasn’t come up much, even with the heat of the last couple of days. [...]

The Yellowstone has finally dropped below 9,000 cfs at Corwin and the trout have started keying in on adult Salmonflies. The river is in great shape and still dropping which should set us up for some great fishing this weekend. Even at the current flows the Yellowstone is still moving fast and should be floated [...]

The Yellowstone River is finally starting to drop and green up a bit. It is currently flowing at 10,500 cfs in Livingston and 9,400 cfs at Corwin Springs. We had decent nymph and streamer fishing this weekend, with black Wooly Buggers, Big Nastys and King Princes. There are good numbers of Salmonflies and Golden Stoneflies [...]
