Hatches on the Paradise Valley spring creeks have varied with weather conditions over the last couple of weeks. Bright skies 10 days ago brought great conditions for sight fishing with midge larva and pupa patterns, but minimal Baetis mayfly activity. Recent foul weather has brought stronger hatches of both midges and Baetis, but high winds have made fishing tough. Once the Mother’s Day caddis pop on the Yellowstone, keep an eye out for spring creek fish that key on egglayers flying over from the river.
