Finally. I fished Depuys again on last Friday. Despite the strong winds, I found a number of fish rising. And I even caught some of them. Primarily on a Sprout Midge emerger pattern. Even though I only saw a couple of blue-winged olive duns on the water, I did catch a couple of fish on a baetis emerger. I still haven’t seen great baetis hatches on the creeks, even though there have been spinners dancing outside our shop in the evenings. Still, you should be prepared with some good baetis emergers and duns if you’re heading to one of the spring creeks. Stop by our shop for recommendations.
This nice brown was photographed just before he plunged through the bottom of my old, apparently rotten, net. The fish was unharmed; the net was not. Time to buy a new net.
