I’ve had the luxury of spending the last couple of Fridays at Depuy’s. Both days were warm but windy. Nymphing was productive. Once again, the Z-Bro Midge in black and red was a winner. But you might also try small Sawyer pheasant tails or other baetis nymph imitations, scuds, and small streamers. At one point, the wind died down and several fish were immediately up on midges, but as soon as I tied on a dry, the wind came back up and shut things down. If you do make it to the creeks on a relatively calm (and preferably cloudy) day, expect midges and possibly some baetis, though we haven’t yet heard of good hatches of the latter.
