Well, at least there’s no wind. The 2010 Mother’s Day Caddis Hatch is turning out to be one to remember, though not for the reasons we would like to remember it by. Hurricane force winds, rain, cold and now snow. Some how the Caddis have still continued to come off, though the windows of activity have been short.
The last few days we have had pretty good dry fly fishing in the afternoons with decent numbers of Caddis, Baetis and March Browns. The best fishing still seems to be between Emigrant and Livingston, though there have been good reports from as high up as Carbella. Again the windows of bug activity have been short so most floats have consisted of throwing streamers or nymphing until the bugs start to go.
The forecast looks somewhat promising for the weekend with a balmy high 52 for Sunday. No need to get out early but it will probably be worth being on the water in the afternoon just in case.
