The Yellowstone fished better than everyone expected this weekend in spite of the weather. There were good hatches of baetis, March browns and caddis with the heaviest activity between 3-5pm. While most of the boat traffic seemed to be from Mallards to 89 the river fished well throughout the valley.
We are looking at another week to ten days of cool temps and precipitation which should keep the caddis at bay and provide good mayfly activity. Hot flies have been the CDC Pheasant Tail, King Prince, Black Copper John, Everything Emerger and Shiela Sculpin.
If you are looking for a day on the river now is a great time to book a guide trip. Call us at 406.222.9393 and we will be happy to set you up with one of our top guides.
